163 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance the person who ordered the Price Waterhouse report on the Office of Public Works; the cost of this; the reasons the report was commissioned; and the recommendations given by the report. [9812/98]
The Commissioners of Public Works commissioned Price Waterhouse to undertake a measurement of return on investment on the arterial drainage maintenance expenditure. It is prudent that all spending programmes should be reviewed periodically. The cost of the study is £56,760, inclusive of expenses. The study has only recently commenced and completion of the report is not expected before July 1998.
