Vol. 490 No. 4

Written Answers. - Migraine Clinic.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

52 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide financial assistance to the Irish Migraine Association towards the establishment of a headache and migraine clinic at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10244/98]

As I have stated previously in replies to parliamentary questions, I understand that the Irish Migraine Association has formally requested the establishment of a headache/migraine clinic at Beaumont Hospital. The association is currently fundraising for this clinic. Beaumont Hospital's management has confirmed that it supports the establishment of this clinic. However, it must fall to be considered within the context of the hospital's overall priorities, and the many competing development demands for its acute services. In this regard, the hospital's management has indicated that such a clinic is not included in its priorities for development in 1998.
