267 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the anomalies in the conditions of access to VTOS courses and the back to education scheme in relation to the means test, supplements available, duration and the quota for lone parents; and if he will have arrangements made to remedy these anomalies. 295 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason VTOS courses have been excluded from the back to education scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12814/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 267 and 295 together.

The question of bringing the rate of allowance payable to VTOS participants into line with that paid for the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs' back to education programmes is currently being considered in my Department.
