Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

129 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for assessment for a hip replacement operation as he is in extreme pain and is unable to walk without the aid of two crutches. [13355/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

130 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of patients on waiting lists at Waterford Regional Hospital; the length of the various waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13425/98]

The information requested by the Deputy is set out as follows, distinguishing between waiting lists and waiting times in the specialties targeted by the waiting list initiative. The Deputy will note that the great majority of adults in Waterford Regional Hospital are treated within the target time period of 12 months and that almost two-thirds of children are treated within the target time period of six months.
