Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Applications.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

94 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, he has to increase the number of sheets supplied with the cattle headage suckler cow application forms in view of the fact that delays occur when dairy farmers must request additional sheets to list the full details of their herds. [13615/98]

The present cattle headage suckler cow premium application forms which allow farmers to apply for grants on up to 53 individual animals cater for the needs of the vast majority of applicants. Extra application forms are made available through local offices of my Department and Teagasc offices. However, the feasibility of issuing additional application sheets to those farmers for whom the present forms are not sufficient will be examined when the application forms for the 1999 schemes are being prepared.

Ceist:

95 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo received a 100 per cent penalty for inconsistencies in his land declaration when the maps were prepared by Teagasc. [13616/98]

A letter informing the applicant of the 100 per cent penalty was issued on 26 May 1998. Subsequent to the issuing of the letter, digitising of land took place which has now cleared the area aid application.
