Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Michael Ferris

Ceist:

389 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the Garda barracks in Dunshaughlin, County Meath; if the existing building will be renovated; if so, the estimated cost; if he has provided funding in the Estimates; when work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15822/98]

It is proposed to renovate the old Garda station building in Dunshaughlin. The Office of Public Works is preparing a sketch scheme for the project. It is not possible to say when work might commence as it is subject to overall priorities and the availability of finance. The cost of the project will not be known until tenders are received. Funding will come from Subhead E of the Vote for the Office of Public Works which contains a general provision for the Garda capital building programme. Funding for individual projects is not specifically identified in the subhead.
