53 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress, if any, made in relation to the extraction of the gypsum deposits at Glangevlin, County Cavan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16234/98]
Having reviewed the work carried out under the prospecting licence which expired on 31 March 1998 and having considered the results of the exploration to that date, I advertised my intention to issue a renewal of the licence in the Anglo Celt on 18 June. There is a statutory obligation upon me to withhold the issue of the licence renewal for a period of at least 21 days after publication.
