Vol. 493 No. 4

Written Answers. - Live Exports.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

103 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of animals flown from Knock Airport, County Mayo, to continental destinations to date in 1998; the type and age of these animals; the destination countries; and whether any calves flown from Knock Airport were destined for continental veal crate farms. [16580/98]

A total of 2,856 calves have been transported by air from Knock Airport to the Continent to date, 29 June this year.

The exported calves, which were up to eight weeks of age, included both Freisian and continental cross animals and comprised both males and females.

All animals were certified for further production to consignees in the Netherlands and Spain.
