267 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make the necessary funding available to the Fingal Educational Resource Group which is working to tackle the problems of people with learning disabilities or are at risk of dropping out from school early; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Fingal Educational Resource Group is included in a consortium which has applied to my Department for funding under the eight to 15 year old early school leavers initiative. A total of 117 completed applications were received by my Department from consortia seeking to participate in this initiative. A selection committee, made up of departmental and non-departmental personnel with expertise in the area, has examined all applications and it is hoped the process of selecting successful applicants will be completed shortly.
