198 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, he has to pay the full year's money up front for the REP scheme, as originally agreed, with no tax liability attached in view of the fact it is a grant payment rather than income. [18598/98]
The initial REPS premium is paid by way of two equal half-yearly instalments, the first of which is paid on acceptance into the scheme. Subsequent premia are paid as single annual payments at the start of each succeeding year. The issue of taxation is a matter for the Revenue Commissioners.
