Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

288 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if an appointment will be made for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has to undergo an operation on his toe and has been on the waiting list since April 1996 in the South-Eastern Health Board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18384/98]

The provision of hospital services to eligible persons in County Kilkenny, in this instance, is the statutory responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

289 Mr. Ring . asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a hip operation in view of the fact that he has been waiting for a number of years; and if he will confirm when his name was placed on the waiting list for treatment. [18470/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo, in this instance, is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
