82 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his 1998 sheep headage and cattle headage payments. [19020/98]

The area aid application of the person named has been fully processed and an overclaim has been detected. Penalties will accordingly be imposed on the application and payments based on the reduced area should issue within the next four weeks.

Ceist:

83 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1997 cattle headage payment in view of the fact that she has been waiting for several months for the area aid unit to amend the details of her forage area which were incorrect. [19021/98]

The person named submitted a 1997 area aid application with a declared forage area of 0.54 hectares. EU regulations stipulate that to qualify for cattle headage, an applicant must declare a minimum of three hectares of disadvantaged land. Given that the person named did not declare the minimum required area, it was not possible to pay cattle headage in 1997.

Ceist:

84 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive payment under the ten month special beef premium scheme. [19022/98]

The person concerned submitted an application for the ten month instalment of the special beef premium in respect of two animals on 25 May 1998. This application was selected for an on-farm inspection which was carried out on 9 September 1998 and at which it was found that one animal applied upon had lost both ear tags. The person concerned has been requested to explain this matter and to produce any relevant evidence regarding same in order that this case can be finalised. Apart from the difficulty outlined above, it should be noted that the herd-number quoted is not yet registered in the name of the person named. The transfer of same is currently being effected.

85 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a 1998 sheep headage payment. [19023/98]

Processing of the 1998 area aid application from the person named has not yet been completed because of difficulties in reconciling the overall area of land. My Department has now written to the person named with a view to resolving the difficulty.
