Vol. 494 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

105 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if persons (details supplied) caring for their daughter who is a stroke victim will be entitled to a grant to have their house re-wired. [19003/98]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the housing aid scheme for the elderly, which in the Dublin area is administered by the Eastern Health Board on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government. The objective of the scheme is to carry out repairs to houses of older people living in unfit and unsanitary conditions.

I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to establish whether the family in question would qualify for assistance under the housing aid scheme and respond directly to the Deputy with the board's findings.
