Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

213 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid the remainder of a 1997 special beef premium and a BSE compensation underpayment. [19557/98]

The person concerned lodged a ten month special beef premium application on 5 December 1997 for eight animals. A cheque amounting to £683.04 was issued to the herdowner on 30 June 1998. This amount represents full payment at £85.38 each on the animals concerned having taken the effect of the national quota cut into account. A further BSE top-up payment is due in respect of 12 additional special beef premium animals and one additiona suckler cow following a comparison between the number of animals eligible in 1995 and 1996. These payments will issue this week.

214 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will get the remainder of a BSE compensation payment in view of the fact she was underpaid. [19558/98]

The person named is not the owner of herd number P 2270987. The correct herd number for the person referred to by the Deputy is P 2270798. She was paid top-up on six suckler cows amounting to £134.40 and special beef premium on four animals amounting to £76.32 based on the number of eligible animals paid 1995 suckler cow and special beef premium respectively. A further BSE top-up payment is due in respect of four additional suckler cows and six additional bullocks following a comparison between the number of animals eligible in 1995 and 1996. Payment of BSE top-up in respect of these animals will be made this week.

Ceist:

215 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1997 and 1998 cattle headage payments in view of the fact that maps have been re-submitted on his behalf. [19559/98]

The 1997 area aid application for the person named has been processed and outstanding payments in respect of 1997 cattle headage will issue in the near future.

The 1998 area aid application of the person named is still being processed. Payments should issue within the next four weeks.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

216 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an application for area aid will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for this delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19633/98]

This area aid application is currently being processed and is expected to be cleared for payment in the next four weeks.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

217 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a REP scheme payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for the delay; and whether any penalty suggested can be eliminated. [19635/98]

This application was subject to a detailed plan examination and on farm inspection, which took place last month. The REPS plan has been found to contain deficiencies and these will have to be rectified in a revised agri-environmental plan before any further payment can be made in this case.

In addition, a penalty has been applied. This was not appealed to the local inspector within the specified ten day period. However, the person concerned may appeal to the REPS appeals committee.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

218 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that all arable aid payments be made immediately when due on 16 October 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19641/98]

Payments will issue on 16 October 1998 in respect of all eligible arable aid applications which are fully clear. My Department has been communicating directly with those applicants whose cases are not yet cleared due to inadequate or incomplete information with a view to finalising their position within the next number of weeks.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

219 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will have a payment made to him for the erection of corrals and the transportation of cattle from a herd in County Leitrim. [19662/98]

The circumstances involved in this case relating to the removal and transport of cattle to slaughter are still under examination. It is expected that a decision will be taken shortly and this will be conveyed to the claimant and the Deputy.
