Ceist:

69 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the local authorities imposing domestic refuse charges; the amount charged by each to individual house-holders; whether his Department has been notified of the amount collected by each local authority in the past year by way of such charges; if so, the total collected by each local authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Details of domestic refuse charges levied by local authorities in 1998 are set out in the following table 1. This table also indicates instances where the domestic refuse collection service has been privatised. On the basis of returns provided to my Department by local authorities, table 2 sets out details of the amounts of domestic refuse charges collected by local authorities in 1997.
