Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

178 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of a 1998 cattle headage grant. [19167/98]

The person named was paid his full entitlement of £450.25 under the 1998 cattle headage scheme on 1 October 1998, limited by his forage area as declared on his 1998 area aid application.

Ceist:

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a 1998 cattle headage payment. [19168/98]

The person named submitted a 1998 area aid application with a declared forage area of 2.61 hectares. EU regulations stipulate that to qualify for cattle headage, an applicant must declare a minimum of three hectares of disadvantaged land. Given that the person named did not declare the minimum required area, cattle headage is not payable in 1998.
