423 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is immediately admitted to the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21442/98]

The provision of medical treatment in this case is the statutory responsibility of the hospital concerned in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital concerned to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
