466 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children whether his Department has yet compiled up to date information regarding acute hospital beds which are inappropriately occupied in view of the fact this information was promised in a Parliamentary Question answered on 30 September 1998; and, if so, if he will give details in this regard. [21782/98]

The information requested by the Deputy is now available and is set out in the attached table, in respect of week ending 27 September 1998. The national number of beds inappropriately occupied is 443, which represents 3.5 per cent of the total number of acute hospital beds, 12,529, throughout the country.
