Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

471 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children if favourable consideration will be given to the allocation of funding to the John Sullivan Resource Centre, Clane, County Kildare, to facilitate the urgent need for upgrading of its present building accommodation in view of the fact that that centre has had to limit the number of people attending the centre because the buildings are unsuitable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21808/98]

Additional capital funding of £3 million was made available in 1998 for services to people with physical and sensory disabilities. At this stage this funding has been allocated to the health boards for specific projects and accordingly, I am not in a position to provide funding to the John Sullivan Resource Centre, Clane, County Kildare for upgrading of their present building accommodation at this time.

However, this proposal will be considered in the context of additional capital funding, if any, allocated for services to people with physical and sensory disabilities in 1999.
