517 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government whether it is possible to advance the Inishannon water supply scheme to Ballinspittal and Garretstown, County Cork; whether the appointment of the consulting engineer requested by the Cork County Council in October 1997 will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A revised brief for the appointment of consultants for the proposed extension of the Innishannon water supply scheme has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.
