Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Environment Regulations.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

580 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason information available to the public under the Freedom of Information on the Environment Regulations 128/98 are not available to a Deputy by means of parliamentary question. [21794/98]

As stated in my reply to the Deputy's Question No. 120 of 8 October 1998, all papers relating to the matter raised by the Deputy may be inspected at the offices of Dúchas, the Heritage Service of my Department. My private secretary will be pleased to arrange an appointment for the Deputy with Dúchas.

The papers relating to this matter, including maps, are voluminous and consequently it is not possible to provide the data by means of an answer to a parliamentary question; nor would it be practical to provide it in written form to the public under either the Freedom of Information Act or the Freedom of Information on the Environment Regulations. In such a situation special inspection arrangements would also be necessary.
