155 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Defence the amount of subsistence paid to military personnel engaged in security duty at Portlaoise prison, County Laois, for each of the years from 1995 to 1997. [22997/98]
Subsistence is not payable to military personnel in respect of security duty in Portlaoise prison as such personnel are provided with rations and accommodation. These personnel qualify for a special prison duty allowance, the rates of which are £36.11 per day for officers and £37.20 per day for non-commissioned personnel.
