Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Privatisation.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

71 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the latest position regarding the search for a strategic partner for Aer Lingus; the nature of the partnership proposed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22549/98]

Ceist:

90 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if the executive chairman of Aer Lingus has reported to her on his discussions with prospective partners in relation to the strategic alliance for Aer Lingus; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22665/98]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 71 and 90 together.

I refer the Deputies to my reply to Questions Nos. 75, 93, 107, 111 on 30 September 1998.

Aer Lingus is in the process of holding discussions with prospective partners. While I have regular contact with the executive chairman of Aer Lingus, there are no specific developments to report at this time. As I indicated in September, the process could take up to six months.
