Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Hospitals Building Programme.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

317 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress made by his Department in providing finance to the North-Eastern Health Board for its proposed £25 million development plan; the elements of the plan which will be implemented in 1999; if plans for the capital building elements of the plan have been completed and agreed by his Department and the board; if final agreement has been reached on the major building programme at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Louth County Hospital, Dundalk, and other hospitals in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23773/98]

The North-Eastern Health Board has prepared wide ranging proposals for the development of the five acute hospitals in its area. These have been submitted to my Department. My Department and the board have established a group to examine the plan in detail and to assess the most appropriate next steps in its consideration.
