Ceist:

164 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment of a 1998 ten month beef premium on 23 animals. [25718/98]

The person named submitted two applications for ten months special beef premium in respect of 29 animals in total.

An advance payment of £432.81 issued on 3 November 1998 in respect of six animals applied on in July 1998. A ten month application submitted in June 1998 in respect of 23 animals was randomly selected for field inspection at which the eligibility of the animals concerned was confirmed. It is expected that advance payment will issue within the coming ten days.

Balancing payments are due in 1999.

Ceist:

167 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment of ten and 22 month beef premia, suckler cow and cattle headage. [25722/98]

An application was made by the person named under both the cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes on 28 May 1998. Grants under both schemes have been approved and cheques should issue to him shortly.

The person named submitted one application for ten month special beef premium and two applications for 22 month special beef premium in respect of a total of 81 animals. One of these applications, in respect of nine animals, was submitted in October 1998 and, therefore, allowing for the regulatory two month retention period, not due payment until January 1999 at the earliest. The January 1998 ten month and 22 month applications were randomly selected for field inspection, the results of which have yet to be finalised.
