194 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the nature of each grant scheme operated by his Department since the formation of the Government; the objective of the scheme; and the name of each body or individual grant aided under each scheme. [25942/98]
An outline of the different programmes funded by my Department, including certain grant schemes, is set out in the 1998 Revised Estimates for Public Services (Vote 25), a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library.
My Department administers a range of grant schemes. These include new house grants, where over 10,000 grants will be paid this year, and many other schemes involving grants or recoupments to local authorities for schemes delivered by them at local level. In the light of the above, I hope the Deputy will understand that compilation of the information sought would entail an inordinate amount of time and effort.
