Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Co-Operation Development Council.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

80 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department has commenced a review of the Co-operative Development Council that is part of the Operational Programme for Human Resources Development 1995-99; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that some of the members appointed in 1988 are no longer connected with the organisations that they originally represented; the way in which existing members are replaced and new members appointed; the number of times the council reports to her Department and the board of FÁS; the nature of these reports; the statistical information maintained on the progress made by the council and its implementing unit; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26172/98]

My Department has not commenced a review of the Co-operative Development Council. The council is appointed by the board of FÁS and, in that context, it is a matter for the board to determine the procedures to be followed in regard to the issues raised in the Deputy's question.
