305 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the work undertaken by the Irish Seal Sanctuary; if she will assist this organisation in its work; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26677/98]
I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 21 of 7 May 1998. I acknowledge the commitment and work of the members of the Irish Seal Sanctuary in relation to the welfare, rescue and care of seals. However, my responsibilities for wildlife do not extend to animal welfare, which is a matter for the Department of Agriculture and Food.
