235 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an application for registration of lands from a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be expedited in view of the fact that the delay is hindering agricultural payments due to him. [27001/98]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 11 July 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.
I am further informed that the Land Registry served notice of the application on the registered owner on 3 December 1998 and a reply is awaited.
This dealing has been marked expedite and will be completed as soon as possible.
