In mid-August 1998, following the Government's approval of my proposals for the White Paper on Defence, my Department placed notices in all national daily newspapers inviting submissions on any or all aspects of the White Paper from interested individuals and organisations, with a closing date of 16 October.
To date, a total of 36 submissions have been received in my Department.
