Ceist:35 Mrs. Barnes asked the Minister for Defence the expenditure increase proposed in the Defence Estimates for 1999 under subhead I for military transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26704/98]
Written Answers. - Defence Forces Transport.
The expenditure proposed in my Department's Estimates for 1999 under subhead 1 for military transport is £7,970,000. This is a decrease of £2,260,000 — 22 per cent — on the amount provided in 1998 which was £10,230,000.
The reason for this reduction is that provisions for aviation and marine fuels, previously included under subhead I, are being transferred to subhead H — aircraft and to subhead J — ships and naval equipment, respectively, with effect from 1999.
