Michael Ferris

Ceist:

97 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Defence the meetings, if any, he has had with Kildare County Council regarding the takeover of houses at Orchard Park, Curragh; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26827/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 54 and 97 together.

The position is that the precise modalities of the sale of the married quarters situated in Orchard Park are still under consideration in the Department and it is not possible at this stage to say when the properties will be offered for sale. The Department is at present considering a proposal from Kildare County Council to jointly fund a feasibility study to establish the best method of disposing of sewage in the Curragh region generally and it is envisaged that this will ultimately result in the council taking the system in charge for the entire area which will include Orchard Park.
