325 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children the position in relation to funding for the palliative care unit at the county hospital, Roscommon; the type of funding applied for by the Mayo and Roscommon Hospice Foundation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27876/98]

I received an application from Mayo-Roscommon Hospice Foundation to cover the running costs of the palliative care unit — £125,000 per annum from 1 January 1999. A provision of £125,000 is being made available in 1999 in respect of the palliative care unit at Roscommon county hospital.
