269 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the areas of responsibility, if any, his Department has with regard to the Government's policy on children; the areas of responsibility, if any, his Department has with regard to the Government's policy on the family; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am fully committed to the pro family approach of Government policy as set out in An Action Programme for the Millennium. Many of the programmes administered by my Department, which are relevant to the general public, impact on the family, including children. However, there are no programmes for which my Department is responsible which are specifically or solely directed at the family or children.
