107 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the proposals, if any, there are to introduce a scheme of grant aid through a Supplementary Estimate in 1999 or 2000 to assist householders in dealing with the problem of radon gas for both existing and new houses; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I would refer the Deputy to my response to Question No. 19 on 10 December 1998.

As I mentioned in that reply, there are no funds available for such a grant scheme in 1999. I have no plans at this stage to introduce a Supplementary Estimate in 1999.

The question of funding for a radon remediation grant scheme in the context of the 2000 Estimates is not under consideration at present.
