Vol. 500 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Reliefs.

John Browne

Ceist:

132 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is not in receipt of a correct tax free allowance. [4570/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that in May 1998 the taxpayer contacted the inspector of taxes and requested an amended certificate of tax free allowances. The taxpayer's records were duly amended to reflect the information contained in the taxpayer's application but, due to an oversight in the tax office, no certificate of tax-free allowances was issued to her at that time.

A certificate of tax-free allowances for the current tax year, 1998-99, issued to the taxpayer on 15 February 1999 granting her the appropriate allowances. Any refund of tax which may be due for the current year will be made by Enniscorthy UDC on operation of this certificate.
The taxpayer should send her P60 forms for previous years to the inspector of taxes who will review her income tax liability for each year and make any refunds of tax which may be due without delay.
