131 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Finance when an assessment notice will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who has sent in the form 11 in January 1999 in view of the fact that this assessment is urgently required to expedite a maintenance education grant for his son who is attending college. [4479/99]
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's return of income was received in the tax office on 2 February 1999 during the peak period for processing returns. The Deputy will appreciate that at this time of year processing takes longer than would normally be the case. However, I am informed that the notice of assessment will issue to the taxpayer within the next ten days.
