Vol. 501 No. 2

Written Answers. - Court Accommodation.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

311 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, to provide refurbishment and urgent repairs to Tipperary town courthouse; when approval will be given for the necessary works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5668/99]

Towards the end of last year my Department asked Tipperary South Riding County Council, who act as my Department's agents in the matter, to nominate consultant architects to prepare plans for the refurbishment of the courthouse in Tipperary town. I understand that the county council will be nominating architects for the project shortly.

The Deputy will appreciate that it is not possible at this stage to provide a timescale for the work given the nature of the planning, consultation and tendering processes. However, the Deputy may be assured that the courthouse in Tipperary town will be refurbished as part of the courts building programme as quickly as possible.
