Vol. 501 No. 2

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Scheme.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

341 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the criteria being used to select schools for home school community liaison teachers; if he has received an application from Chanel College, Coolock; and if he is in a position to accede to its request. [5737/99]

The home-school-community liaison scheme was introduced to schools that were designated as serving areas of disadvantage. As part of the recently announced £57 million two year funding initiative to tackle educational disadvantage, I indicated that every disadvantaged school will have a home-school-community liaison service available to it from September next. This includes Chanel College which has previously applied to be included in the scheme.
