Richard Bruton

Ceist:

111 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of young persons under 21 with no qualifications who participated in 1996 on Youthreach, specific skills training, community employment and VTOS in view of the 1996 NESF report on early school leaving; the number participating in 1999; and if the targeted increase has been achieved. [6678/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 110 and 111 together.

I understand that the Deputy has tabled identical questions to the Minister for Education and Science. The question of the implementation of the schemes referred to by the Deputy which come within the ambit of my Department is a day-to-day operational matter for FÁS and consequently I have no function in relation to this. I have, however, arranged for FÁS to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the information he seeks in so far as it relates to FÁS provision.
