Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Areas of Conservation.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

478 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason massive trench type holes, which are water logged and close to walking trails, have been dug at Lough Talt, County Sligo, a special area of conservation. [7690/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 302 of 2 March 1999.

Following a further visit to the area by an official of Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, it has been confirmed that the holes referred to by the Deputy are located in property which is outside the Lough Talt SAC and therefore outside my remit.
