Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

198 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1998 headage and premia in view of the fact that his total forage area of 77 hectares has not changed in years. [9583/99]

A problem arose with the original parcel claimed by the herdowner. The herdowner was written to for clarification in this regard. The parcel in question is commonage. The herdowner originally applied for the 11.34 hectares pre-printed in the parcel details on the form. It now transpires that what he wanted to claim was his full one-nineteenth share in the commonage concerned. The herdowner concerned has now been credited with a net area of 76.73 hectares which equates to one-nineteenth of the gross area of the parcel. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Ceist:

199 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food further to Parliamentary Question No. 156 of 9 March 1999 when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of 1998 headage and premia; and the reason for the delay in this regard. [9584/99]

In my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 156 on 9 March 1999, I indicated that my Department would contact the person named with a view to resolving outstanding difficulties with his area aid application. Overclaims had been identified on two of the land parcels claimed by him in 1998. Maps were issued to him with a view to resolving the difficulties. A reply has not yet been received. The application cannot be further processed until the maps have been completed and returned by the person concerned.

Ceist:

200 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a suckler cow premium on five animals in view of the fact he has a quota six transferred from his uncle of the same name. [9585/99]

The person named made an application under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme in respect of five cows on October 23 1998.

The applicant has been a registered herd-owner since February 1997 and holds a suckler cow quota of six premium rights.

Payment under the October suckler cow premium scheme cannot commence until the six month retention period has expired and all other office checks are completed. It is expected that payment under the October 1998 suckler cow premium scheme will commence in early May and if the application is in order payment should issue next month.
