Written Answers. - Area Aid Applications.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

264 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of area aid applications for County Donegal under appeal; the nature of the problems arising; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10119/99]

The number of appeals lodged with the headage and premia appeals unit concerning area aid applications for County Donegal since the unit was set up in September 1995 was 31. Twenty seven of those 31 appeals were examined by the unit and have been concluded. Of the remaining four appeals, two were not pursued by the herdowners and two are awaiting examination.

The principal problems arising with area aid applications include (a) area aid application incorrectly completed (b) parcels overclaimed or underclaimed (c) unnotified change of use of parcels (d) area aid applications not submitted before the closing date.
