292 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the practice of betting on the tote by minors; and if he will introduce legislation to make this illegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9805/99]

My Department is examining the issue of young people betting on the tote in consultation with the office of the Attorney General. I cannot say at this stage what the outcome will be. Any decision on legislative changes will be made when the examination is completed.
