Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

295 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if the case will be investigated for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow in order to determine if he is in receipt of the correct tax free allowance; and if this person is due a refund of tax or increased allowance in view of payments made to hospitals for medical attention. [9881/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, according to the information available to the inspector of taxes, the taxpayer's tax free allowances for 1999-2000 are correct.

The inspector has sent a health expenses claim form (Med 1) to the taxpayer. The taxpayer should complete the form and return it, along with his P60 for 1998-99, to the inspector who will then review his income tax liability for the year and make any refund which may be due.
