294 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if he will implement a policy to allow each local authority to raise extra finance by means of the issue of personalised number plates; and if he will examine the system in other EU countries with a view to early introduction. [9880/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to his Parliamentary Question No. 283 dated 23 March 1999. As I stated previously, I have no plans to introduce personalised number plates for motor vehicles.
