Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

402 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when approval for Carndonagh sewerage scheme, County Donegal will issue in view of the fact that the contract documentation has been finalised and submitted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10132/99]

This scheme is included in the 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to be advanced through planning. Contract documents for the scheme were received in my Department on 16 April last and are now being examined. A decision will be conveyed to the local authority in due course.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

403 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when funding for the Knock and Ballyhaunis sewerage scheme in County Mayo will be approved. [10133/99]

The preliminary report for phase one of Knock sewerage scheme, which is included in my Department's 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to be advanced through planning, was approved last year and contract documents are currently awaited. The provision of funding will be considered at the appropriate time.

Funding has been approved for the Ballyhaunis sewerage scheme on which work is under way and which is expected to reach substantial completion this year.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

404 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position of the Westport sewerage scheme, County Mayo; when funding will be secured for the construction phase of the scheme; and the progress being made in the planning phase. [10134/99]

The planning and design stages of this scheme have been approved for funding under the EU Cohesion Fund. However a source of funding has not yet been identified for the main construction works. In the meantime an advance section of the scheme, sewer rehabilitation works, has been included in the Department's 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to start construction, while the remainder is included to be advanced through planning. The local authority's tender report and recommendations in relation to the advance section were received in the Department last week and are under examination.
