463 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will introduce legislation to enable persons to nominate their next of kin other than relative by birth or marriage; the implications in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9566/99]

Some relevant provisions are already contained in the law which impact upon this matter and, while there are no proposals at present to introduce any changes in this area, I can say that it is kept under review.
