Vol. 504 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dental Services.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

64 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has secured a firm commitment from the Irish Dental Association to implement revised procedures which would facilitate the provision of routine dental treatment to medical card holders in the 35 to 64 age group later in 1999. [11823/99]

Discussions are continuing between officials of my Department and representatives of the Irish Dental Association on the introduction of revised procedures to improve accountability and patient access to treatment under the dental treatment services scheme. Subject to agreement on these issues I propose to extend routine dental treatment later this year to eligible persons in the 35-64 age group.
