Vol. 504 No. 3

Written Answers. - Adult Education.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

92 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason funding has not been made available to organisations in the community sector wishing to organise consultation on the Adult Education Green Paper; his views on whether this will undermine consultation with the more marginalised sections of the community which adult education policy should be seeking to reach; and if funding will be made available in order that a full consultation process can take place. [11793/99]

I am anxious that the consultation process is as wide as possible and considerable resources are being allocated by my Department to a general consultation process, involving meetings with organisations involved in adult education, the hosting of regional seminars, and a national forum to take place in September. It will not be possible, however, to award grants to individual organisations for their internal consultation processes separate to their other grants from my Department.
